Atacama

Traveling is like talking to people from other centuries.

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes lays the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, where 14 thousand years ago its first inhabitants who settled in the oasis arrived.

Atacama possesses an active geological past that we see in great salt lakes, lagoons, volcanoes, and three major mountain ranges: the Andes, the longest in the world, Domeyko and Cordillera de la Sal, which are included in the tours. The desert holds surprises and there are great gorges with green valleys and rivers to cross, as one ascends the Andes to change the landscape begins to enter the highlands, finding a landscape rich in flora and fauna. It is in this magical landscape where trips are made ON SAFARI. Each season offers different adventures and through unique journeys, 365 days a year will reveal new experiences for passengers.

Weather
The local climate is characterized by high desert, with large variations in temperature. Morning in the highlands and the desert can be cold, but it warms up as the sun rises. It is therefore essential to bring warm clothing for the night and a good pair of boots and helmet. There is no regular rain, so conditions are perfect for exploring Atacama throughout the year.

Flora and Fauna
Contrary to what people imagine, there is an interesting biodiversity in the desert. The flora mainly include high grasses and plants along water courses, as well as different species of cactus. For its part the fauna offers a wide range of animals such as camelids, flamingos, as well as foxes and feral cats.
